When shipping or installing into existing buildings....
 
Our residential dumbwaiter ( Patent No. 6,167,670,B1 ) is manufactured in three pieces.
To install:  Position bottom unit - align stacking pins and set middle unit in place.
Repeat with top unit.  With all three units in place attach chain with master - links to top and bottom of trolley.  Machine is ready to run.
 
Residential Dumbwaiter shall be self supporting structure.  Shaft shall be welded .065 square tubing frame.  Inside lining shall be No. .026 gauge galvanized sheet metal.  All joints shall be lapped and screwed to continuous .065 gauge steel tubing.  26 gauge sheet metal shall be backed with one inch insulation.  The outside layers of the wall shall be backed with one inch insulation.  The outside layers of the wall shall be approved fire- resistive wall construction. ( 5/8 tape sheet rock ) if required. ( If required seal joints with 3M fire barrier CP 25 WB or 3M fire barrier 2000 sealant. )
 
NOTE:
Install .26 gauge galvanized Lock - Lap Collars where shaft sections meet. ( as per section 707.14 International Building Code )  See Below

711.6 Chute and Dumbwaiter shafts. In building of type v construction, chutes and dumbwaiter shafts with a cross-sectional area of not more than 9 square feet ( 0.84m2 ) may be either approved fire-resistive wall construction or may have the inside layers of the approved fire-resistive assembly replaced by a lining of not less than 0.019-inch (0.48mm) No. 26 galvanized sheet gage metal with all joints lock-lapped. The outside layers of the wall shall be as required for the approved construction. All openings into any such enclosure shall be protected by not less than a self closing solid wood door 1-3/8 inches (35mm) thick or equivalent.

707.14 Elevator and Dumbwaiter Shafts. Elevator hoist-away and dumbwaiter enclosures shall be constructed in accordance with 707.4 and chapter 30.
707.04 Fire-Resistive Rating. Shaft enclosures including exit enclosures shall have a fire-resistance rating of not less than 2 hours where connecting four stories or more and 1 hour where connecting less than 4 stories. Shaft enclosures shall have a fire-resistance rating of not less than the floor assembly penetrated,but need not exceed 2 hours.
